About the Open Energy Platform Database

The Open Energy Platform offers a rich collection of energy-related datasets, organized by topic to support modeling, analysis, and research. Each dataset includes structured data and metadata with tags, descriptions, and quality indicators. We develop tools to help users explore, visualize, and analyze data, using linked data and semantic web standards to ensure interoperability and reuse. Our REST API enables flexible, automated data access and contribution without a fixed data model. While technical knowledge is often needed, we're working to make the platform more user-friendly—especially for tasks like comparing scenario input/output datasets. How to Navigate:

Browse Topics: Click on any topic card below to explore available datasets
Use Filters: Utilize the search and tag filters above to find specific data
Draft Data: The draft section contains user-contributed data awaiting review
Publish Data: Once the license of a dataset qualifies as open data you can publish your data into any topic suitable for the data
Scenario Data: The scenario section contains reviewed input or output data stemming from modelling work. These datasets can be linked in the scenario bundles section and they are used to enable quantitative comparisons across bundles.
Quality Indicators: Tags enhance data findability, source type, and review status

Unfinished data of any kind. Note: there is no version control and data is still volatile.

Scenario data in the broadest sense. Includes input and output data from models that project scenarios into the future. Example inputs: assumptions made about future developments of key parameters such as energy prices and GDP. Example outputs: projected electricity transmission, projected greenhouse gas emissions. Note that inputs to one model could be an output of another model and the other way around.
